Class of 2013: Anticipated Albums

2012 was a pretty good year for music.  Let's hope that 2013 is even better.  With that in mind, here are my 10 most anticipated releases for 2013*:

Philip H. Anselmo - Rumor has it that this will be crushingly heavy.  If you're a fan of Pantera or Down, then this should be on your radar.

Cloud Nothings - These guys put out a great album in early 2012, and they're already back at it.  Reportedly, this new one will be noisier and less melodic than Attack on Memory.

Darkthrone - According to Fenriz on Peaceville's Darkthrone page, The Underground Resistance will contain “3 songs each, Ted's are flown from the universe of metal with his strongest voice ever so far. Songs of mine are torn from the wombs of the riders of rohan of metal; safely cradled in 1985 style”.

Deafheaven - Roads to Judah was one of my favorite albums of 2011.  I'm interested to see where this band is headed.

Hate Meditation - This is a Blake Judd (Nachtmystium) black metal side project that also features Wrest from Leviathan.

Kvelertak - This Norwegian band surprised many with their debut mix of metal and punk.  They refuse to sing in English, and that's refreshing.

Kylesa -Savannah sludge from one of Georgia's big guns.  While waiting for the new record, check out the rarities and unreleased comp From the Vaults, Vol. 1.

Leviathan - Jef Whitehead (Wrest) put out True Traitor True Whore amid a slew of controversy.  Now that he's a free man, let's see what he does next.

Skeletonwitch - This is a band that seems to keep getting better and better.  Will they be able to top 2011's Forever Abomination?  I can't wait to find out.

Twilight -Sadly, this black metal supergroup chose its name, and then a series of books about vampires and werewolves blew up.  Thurston Moore contributes on the new album, but is this a good thing?

*Please note that I've only included upcoming albums that have a planned 2013 release.
